Christmas Concert (Sort!?)

Come join the bell and chancel choirs for a half hour of a handbell concert and a carol sing on December 13 at 1 pm at the side door ramp entrance of the Meeting House. Our handbell choir has been meeting, socially distanced, for the past month preparing some super fun Christmas music to share with all of us. Favorite hits such as, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Away in the Manger, Rudolf and Jingle Bells just to name a few.  The ringers will ring their bells from the steps of the Meeting House and the bells will ring beautifully even in the cold!  After the mini bell “concert” our chancel choir will help lead everyone in a Carol sing along with our organ.  I will blast it at “full stops” (organ speak for really, really loud) and we will sing the two verses of several carols, ending with Silent Night.    So, come and enjoy this holiday concert and get in the spirit of the season.  This is sure to be a fun event and put a smile on our faces in a year when we need smiles and enjoyment more than ever.

If you don’t have the carols memorized print out the sing-along sheet below and bring it with you!

Due to coronavirus restrictions we are limited to the size of outdoor gatherings.  This special concert is open to our congregational members only and, you know the drill, masks and distancing will be required.

O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL

come, all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of Angels!

O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

sing, choirs of angels
Sing in exultation
Oh, come, oh come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of Angels

O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim thy holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.

ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o’er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING

Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!

Hail the Heav’n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris’n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing:
“Glory to the newborn King!”

SILENT NIGHT

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
‘Round yon virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight!
Glories stream from heaven afar;
Heavenly hosts sing Al-le-lu-ia!
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born!

Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, oh, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord at Thy birth
